Rhyme & Reason.
We give you a lot of "reason" each week.
Deep knowledge, powerful evidence and good science.
But this week we're doing something a little different.
We're bringing the rhyme.
What follows are three of the quotes and maxims we live by as a brand.
Because sometimes you don't need an entire peer-reviewed study – just a few choice words.
In fact, you can keep your studies and journals until someone finds us a cave painting of a salad.
This is our favourite.
It's easy, in the space of health and nutrition, to get angry.
To see the world as a torrent of toxic people and food coming to get you.
People with bad intentions.
Really bad advice.
And really, really bad fake meat alternatives.
But there is goodness in everything, if you look for it.
There is no right without wrong.
No light without dark.
And quite possibly, no nose-to-tail, regenerative farming movement without the plant-based, fake meat movement that preceded it.
One fuelled the other.
It was only when we all saw just how far wrong we had gone, that we re-found the way.
We started to go back the way we came.
Which brings us to our old favourite...
It goes like this...
Before 1850 all milk was raw.
Before 1900 everyone ate eggs and beef.
Before 1910 everyone used salt to preserve their foods.
Before 1920 everything was cooked in tallow and lard.
Before 1950 we ate every meal together.
Before 1980 everything was organic.
(And before 2024 you couldn't get Oath Food Co. nose-to-tail, grass-fed burgers and sausages delivered to your door. It's not all bad)
We always knew how to live. It was all intuition.
And then we were told lies upon lies until we mistrusted our intuition and forgot everything we knew.
We forgot how it feels to eat rich, nutrient dense foods in season. And we accepted sickness and listlessness as just "how it is".
No more.
Come with us, we're going back the way we came.
And finally...
This is the reason we are called Oath.
All doctors swear the Hippocratic Oath which reads "Let food be thy medicine".
But how many doctors actually live by that maxim. Today, it's Let medicine be thy medicine.
Our purpose here is to wind back the clock to a time when food was medicine. It's why we make the most nutrient dense foods on the planet and make them available to all.
It's also why we call our boxes a Subscription against Prescriptions.
